Time present

Sat Oct 10, 2009, 1:48 AM
Autumn has arrived, and my love for poetry stirred once again.

Here are some verses from my favourite poet, T.S.Eliot:

"Time present and time past
Are both perhaps present in time future,
And time future contained in time past.
If all time is eternally present
All time is unredeemable.
What might have been is an abstraction
Remaining a perpetual possibility
Only in a world of speculation.
What might have been and what has been
Point to one end, which is always present.
Footfalls echo in the memory
Down the passage which we did not take
Towards the door we never opened
Into the rose-garden. My words echo
Thus, in your mind."

(BURNT NORTON. No. 1 of 'Four Quartets' )

"
Because I do not hope to turn again
Because I do not hope
Because I do not hope to turn
Desiring this man's gift and that man's scope
I no longer strive to strive towards such things
(Why should the agèd eagle stretch its wings? )
Why should I mourn
The vanished power of the usual reign?"

...

"Because these wings are no longer wings to fly
But merely vans to beat the air
The air which is now thoroughly small and dry
Smaller and dryer than the will
Teach us to care and not to care
Teach us to sit still. "

(Ash wednesday)

That said, I must also mention that I will upload soon some more photos from my trip to Slovenia and Austria, because I've been rather lazy this summer and now that autumn came, I'm in the mood for some photography.

Summer

Wed Jun 24, 2009, 9:29 AM
Summer's here.

And my "Merry Christmas" journal had to go. Such a greeting doesn't have its place in June.

I've submitted the best of my photos from Tarja's concert, here in Bucharest. Sometimes I give complete reports, full of details, but now I don't feel like it, and I'll just say that the concert was great, Tarja did an amazing job and her musicians as well (took a pic with Maria from keyboards as well, she's small like me!). Although the atmosphere was a bit better in Sofia, I really hope Tarja will come here soon again. Countries like Germany have up to 5 gigs per year, and I hope that romanian organizers will realise that her fanbase here is big as well.

Anyway, take a look into my gallery. Constructive criticism is always welcome, though consider the fact that my camera is not SLR, and smoke in concerts is not always beneficial for photographers. :)

  • Reading: V.M.Manfredi - The Last Legion
  • Eating: belgian chocolate

Alandala

Got some graduated grey filters some time ago. The only annoying thing is that the adaptor ring which I've ordered from Amazon more than a month ago, hasn't arrived. And I need it. And the weather outside just calls for photos even though my favourite part of autumn had passed (sadly, I love the rusty toned colours). I can't wait to try them out.
Next on my list are polarizing filters. And I'm still dreaming of some concert lens. :)

Random thoughts:
*First time seeing Tarja kicked ass.
*It's freezing outside.
*I've been feeling artsy lately but a certain maths teacher gave a helluva homework for next week, plus I have a stupid It exam...
*I want to go to the mountains! And it's snowing there already...
*I wish people were more civilized...
*I'm feeling friendly.
*I wish to go to the opera Tosca in December.
*I wish to have more time to read.
*I want to learn how to make clothes! I mean costumes - especially Norse ones.
*Everything seems to go fine...for now.

Quote of the day:

"There will be time, there will be time
To prepare a face to meet the faces that you meet"

* T.S.Elliot - The love song of Alfred Prufrock
