New camera

1 min read
I just got a new camera, mainly a Pentax K-x and I'm still trying it out. I find it a bit complicated because I've never worked with DSLRs' before and I still have a great deal of stuff to learn. For now I'm testing it, and I've went to the mountains to try it out even if it was just for a day. I wasn't very pleased with the results, but hey, I'm a beginner so I shouldn't complain so much.

However, I've only posted two photos so far, the ones I consider the best, but I'm unsure about the rest. Hope they're alright for now. I also took some macro shots but I need lens for that, lens which I'll get in the near future - can't wait!. Also some filters are in order.

Anyway, hope I'll submit more pictures soon with university only starting in October. :)

Time present

2 min read
Here are some verses from my favourite poet, T.S.Eliot:

"Time present and time past
Are both perhaps present in time future,
And time future contained in time past.
If all time is eternally present
All time is unredeemable.
What might have been is an abstraction
Remaining a perpetual possibility
Only in a world of speculation.
What might have been and what has been
Point to one end, which is always present.
Footfalls echo in the memory
Down the passage which we did not take
Towards the door we never opened
Into the rose-garden. My words echo
Thus, in your mind."

(BURNT NORTON. No. 1 of 'Four Quartets' )

"
Because I do not hope to turn again
Because I do not hope
Because I do not hope to turn
Desiring this man's gift and that man's scope
I no longer strive to strive towards such things
(Why should the agèd eagle stretch its wings? )
Why should I mourn
The vanished power of the usual reign?"

...

"Because these wings are no longer wings to fly
But merely vans to beat the air
The air which is now thoroughly small and dry
Smaller and dryer than the will
Teach us to care and not to care
Teach us to sit still. "

(Ash wednesday)

That said, I must also mention that I will upload soon some more photos from my trip to Slovenia and Austria, because I've been rather lazy this summer and now that autumn came, I'm in the mood for some photography.

Summer

1 min read
Summer's here.

And my "Merry Christmas" journal had to go. Such a greeting doesn't have its place in June.

I've submitted the best of my photos from Tarja's concert, here in Bucharest. Sometimes I give complete reports, full of details, but now I don't feel like it, and I'll just say that the concert was great, Tarja did an amazing job and her musicians as well (took a pic with Maria from keyboards as well, she's small like me!). Although the atmosphere was a bit better in Sofia, I really hope Tarja will come here soon again. Countries like Germany have up to 5 gigs per year, and I hope that romanian organizers will realise that her fanbase here is big as well.

Anyway, take a look into my gallery. Constructive criticism is always welcome, though consider the fact that my camera is not SLR, and smoke in concerts is not always beneficial for photographers. :)

"In photography, the smallest thing can be a great subject. The little, human detail can become a Leitmotiv."

The photograph itself doesn't interest me. I want only to capture a minute part of reality.
